Abstract. The article examines the components of motivation for pickleball practice among students of the People’s Republic of China. The study was conducted using the Sport Motivation Scale (SMS) questionnaire. The analysis of the motivation structure of students engaged in pickleball showed that different levels of motivation form a continuum and manifest in interconnection with real-world scenarios. The highest levels of motivation were obtained on the scales of emotional stimulation, cognitive motivation, and self-development. The study established that older students exhibit a decrease in cognitive motivation and an increased level of emotional motivation. The results of the correlation analysis revealed statistically significant relationships between the students’ motivation components, based on which it was concluded that these characteristics must be taken into account when organizing pickleball sessions in order to increase the efficiency of the training process.
